Getting Help When Sickness Strikes Your Disney World Vacation

When sickness strikes during your Disney  World vacation, you might be worried about how you will get medical assistance.  You are away from home, maybe don’t even have a car. Disney World has great medical support both on Disney property as well as nearby

In the Parks

If you are in any of the Walt Disney World Parks you can head to the First Aid Center.  There is one located in each park.  First-Aid Centers are open during park hours and are staffed with a nurse.  They can provide you with over the counter medication, bandages and other remedies that can hopefully get you back on your way soon.

  • Magic Kingdomlocated just off the hub at the end of Main Street between Casey’s Corner and The Crystal Palace
  • Epcot– located to the left as you begin to enter World Showcase on the backside of the Odyssey Building
  • Hollywood Studios– located to the left just next to Guest Services as you enter the park
  • Animal Kingdom– located off to the left as you enter the park, just past Pizzafari
  • Typhoon Lagoon-located near the front of the park, right next to the Leaning Palms Restaurant
  • Blizzard Beach-located near the park entrance, to the left after you pass Beach Haus on your left.

You can also use your My Disney Experience App to locate the nearest First Aid or ask any Cast Member for Assistance

Let’s Get Back to Vacation- Getting Sick Doesn’t Ruin your Trip

Once the patient gets the care and attention that they need, it is time to think about getting back to vacation even if for some of your party.   Not all is lost, so here are some tips to ease back into your vacation.

While your ill travel partner gets some rest, allow the rest of the travel party to have some fun.  Don’t feel guilty letting your patient get some sleep in the room (of course with an adult if a minor).   Be sure and put the Do Not Disturb sign on the door to let housekeeping know to bypass you for now.    Then rest of the travel party should head off to enjoy some pool or park time.  Everyone staying in the room isn’t going to help the patient or others traveling.

Disney isn’t all about parks, in fact, you will make some of your best Disney memories in those smaller moments.  Take advantage of some things around the hotel.  When the patient is feeling a bit better, think maybe about some pool time,  maybe just a movie under the stars or a campfire.  Take it slow so that you don’t over-do it.  Here are some great fun and free ideas for you Free Things to do at Walt Disney World.

Tips to Recover & Get Back to Vacation

When you are feeling better and able to get back to the parks, take it easy, take breaks.  Don’t wear yourself out all in one day.  When you look back it will be the quality of your time not the quantity of what you do that you will remember from your vacation.

Let housekeeping know that someone was sick and ask them to do a deeper cleaning.
