The All-Star resorts are fun and lively with no shortage of entertaining activities! These three resorts, All-Star Sports, All-Star Music, and All-Star Movies are classified as Disney Value resorts and are a perfect choice to stretch your vacation dollars while still experiencing the magic of being in the Disney bubble. While exploring the Walt Disney World theme parks is likely a top priority on your vacation, consider taking a break to recharge and take advantage of the amenities back at your resort.
Tip: When you stay at one of the All-Star resorts, you’re able to use the pools, recreation, and amenities at all three All-Stars. This gives you more variety and options if the scheduled activities at your resort don’t interest you or work into your schedule. The resorts are also within walking distance of each other, making it easy to take advantage of this opportunity.
Here are the top 5 things to do at Disney’s All-Star Resorts!
1. Discover the Larger-Than-Life Icons Throughout the Property
These resorts certainly stand out thanks to the unique and enormous icons that are scattered throughout. These icons represent the different themes of each resort, making them truly one-of-a-kind. Whether you’re drawn to the giant Woody and Buzz Lightyear at All-Star Movies, the towering instruments at All-Star Music, or the two-story tall football helmet and surfboards at All-Star Sports, there’s something for everyone. So be sure to take some time to see them for yourself during your stay and snap some photos.
2. Enjoy a Specially Themed Dessert
Explore the unique desserts available at each of the food courts as they often have special themed treats you won’t find anywhere else. Currently, the All-Star Movies Resort has a Box Office Cupcake that looks like a bag of popcorn, while the All-Star Music Resort offers the Rockin’ Stitch Cupcake with banana custard and peanut butter buttercream, and the All-Star Sports Resort has the Surfing Stitch Cupcake with a sporty Stitch white chocolate medallion. No matter which you choose, you’ll no doubt satisfy your sweet tooth with these tasty and cute desserts.
3. Enjoy Poolside Games and Cool Off in the Pools
When vacationing at a Disney resort, don’t miss the heated pools with games led by the activities staff. With various themed pool options like the Three Caballeros at All-Star Music, it’s a fun and family-friendly option. Check the activity calendar to join scheduled games and events. If you’re looking for a more relaxing time at the pool, each resort also offers a quieter pool without the games and activities. There are also kiddie pools and splash pads for the smaller ones. Whether you’re looking for a peaceful environment or a lively atmosphere, you’ll be able to find a pool that you can enjoy.
4. Get Crafty!
If you’re looking to stay dry, you can participate in the complimentary arts and crafts activities offered daily in the lobby. There is also a rotating schedule of crafts for a small additional cost, such as a painting class, Mickey T-Shirt Tie-Dye, Make Your Own Slime or Salt Scrub, and more. Be sure to check the activity schedule at your resort and take advantage of the many arts and crafts options available to you!
5. Roast Marshmallows and Enjoy a Disney Movie Under the Stars
Once the evening starts to set in, the resort fire pit area is a perfect place to enjoy a time-honored tradition of roasting marshmallows. It’s free to roast marshmallows with a small fee if you would like to buy a s’mores kit. When you’ve had your fill of roasted marshmallows, catch the Trivia Challenge and stay for a Movie Under the Stars. Each of the three All-Star resorts offers a different monthly movie schedule so, if you aren’t interested in the movie scheduled for that night at your resort, just check out the line-up at the other two resorts.
While these are my top 5 activities to enjoy, there are many other opportunities available around the resorts, like playing arcade games, pin trading, playing on the football field at All-Star Sports, or maybe you’ll just happen upon an impromptu character meet and greet. My advice is to have an idea of what might interest you and your family and then allow for spontaneity.
