I would like to introduce you to one of the three Universal Orlando On-Site Hotels. Loews Royal Pacific is the newest of the three on-site hotels. It has 1000 guest rooms, 6 restaurants, a 5000 sq. ft. fitness center, a kids program and is a pet friendly hotel.
The hotel is themed as though you were visiting the South Pacific. It has a tropical feel with Polynesian and Asian touches. The story of the hotel goes that there was an airline that delivered mail to the South Pacific. That airline expanded into a passenger airline and then a cruise line. The company built hotels on the islands that they visited so that the cruise and air passengers had a great place to stay on each island. And, boy, did they succeed.
The rooms are nicely sized with two queen beds and a nightstand, a single sink bathroom, two chairs and a table, chest of drawers and a flat screen TV. There is an alarm clock in the room with a dock for your iPod. If you are looking to surf the web, Wi-Fi is available for an additional charge (it is free is you are a Loews First Member). The room also has a mini-bar for snack purchases and you can order room service. The rooms are located in three towers with rooms that face the gardens or pool.
Speaking of the pool, it is a large pool with a sandy beach and a barrier free entrance spot. The days we were at the pool the water was a perfect temperature and there were plenty of chairs to relax on. They also had a volleyball net and beach balls to use in the pool. In the afternoons there are activities at the pools as well, the day we were there we played Bingo. There is a bar with food service and seasonally open ice cream shop at the pool as well. The kids play area at the pool is a cruise ship with water splashing everywhere.
The hotel features six restaurants including Emeril’s Tchoup Chop (pronounced Chop Chop) which is a beautiful fine dining restaurant and An Indonesian-style dining restaurant called Islands Dining Room plus four other restaurants. They offer a weekly character breakfast, and a luau weekly as well. There is a “grab and go” option for breakfast. And a lounge where you can relax at the end of the day.
Since the Royal Pacific Hotel is an On-Site Universal hotel, you get some extra benefits when you stay there. First is free transportation via water taxi to the Universal and Islands of Adventure Theme Parks. The taxi comes about every 15-20 minutes to take you to the City Walk dock just across from the entrance to the parks. Second is you get a Free Universal Express Unlimited which allows you to skip the regular line on most attractions at the two theme parks. Third is that you get Early Admission into the two theme parks each morning of your stay.
Other benefits include: Priority seating at select restaurants, merchandise delivery, resort charging privileges, complimentary transportation to Sea World and Aquatica and a daily wakeup call from a Universal Orlando them park character!
As I mentioned before, you can use the Water Taxi’s to get to the theme parks or, if you choose, it is a 10 minute walk through a tropical line pathway to get to the theme parks. We chose to walk because it was such a nice stroll.
The resort does charge a parking fee and also offers valet parking if you would like. There are two smaller gift shops in the lobby and some near the pool. There is also a Concierge and Guest Services desk in the lobby of the hotel.
