No MagicBand? No Problem!

When planning your visit to Walt Disney World, your Travel Counselor will share information with you about ordering MagicBands for your travel party. These are fun, waterproof wristbands that you can use during your Walt Disney World vacation. They also serve as great souvenirs.

When staying on property, you can use them to open your Disney Resort room door, charge to your room, scan into the theme parks, and scan into Lightning Lanes. It is also an easy way to connect to PhotoPass photographers. They simply scan your band and your photos will appear in your My Disney Experience app.

Even though MagicBands are fabulous, the most important thing to note is that they are completely optional. If you decide not to purchase these, you have alternatives for being able to use all of these different functions!

Key to the World Cards

One option is a Key to the World Card. You can ask for this card when you check-in at your Walt Disney World Resort.

  • This plastic card will serve as your room key.
  • You can scan it to enter the parks and Lightning Lanes.
  • You can link it to a credit card to obtain charges privileges in the parks.
  • It can also be scanned when you have a PhotoPass photographer take your picture.

The only difference between this and a classic MagicBand is that it won’t be as easily accessible on your wrist. You can opt to wear a lanyard that would make things a little easier, or just keep it in your backpack or pocket. You can ask for one of these for every member of your travel party in case you are not planning to stick together for the entire trip.

MagicMobile

Your second option in lieu of a MagicBand is to set up MagicMobile on your phone. You can use this with iPhones, Apple Watches or Google Pay enabled Android phones. After setting up MagicMobile, you will hold up your smart device near an access point, just as you do with a MagicBand.

MagicMobile can do the same things as your Key to the World Card.

  • Thisd will serve as your room key.
  • You can scan it to enter the parks and Lightning Lanes.
  • You can link it to a credit card to obtain charges privileges in the parks.
  • It can also be scanned when you have a PhotoPass photographer take your picture.

To set this up, you will log into your My Disney Experience app, click the three lines on the bottom right, and then click “Disney MagicMobile.” You can choose from several different styles and add it to your digital wallet. Then you will just follow the steps in the app to create passes for your travel party.

Which Will You Choose?

Whether you want a MagicBand on your wrist, a Key to the World Card in your pocket, or MagicMobile on your phone, Walt Disney World continues to make our park experiences easier and easier by streamlining as many elements as possible!
