Thinking about celebrating your anniversary at Walt Disney World? Sounds magical!
While many people dream of that magical Disney Wedding, for some of us, the days of wedding gowns and tuxedos are a thing of the past. You’ve got years of wedded bliss under your belts, but that doesn’t mean you can’t experience that Disney magic. Instead of for your wedding, why not make it all about your anniversary?
As someone who spent two straight anniversaries at Walt Disney World here are some tips, advice, and maybe even something blue! Each trip was very different from the other but equally fun and memorable.
Anniversary #1
Our first anniversary spent at Walt Disney World was all about adventure and thrills, basically, we made it all about us! As the parents of two kids, we have made many Disney trips with all of the gear you need for a successful family vacation. But this trip was all about the two of us enjoying the Disney magic as two theme park-loving adults, not as parents.
We went big. The alarm went off early and went on the big rides. Rides that our kids weren’t ready or tall enough for. Attractions that we maybe hadn’t experienced in a few years. Some of them we had skipped over for years because of the line length or height restrictions. But on this trip, nothing help us back and we were able to move swiftly through the parks.
But, we also made sure to take time to enjoy the slow moments. Stopping to grab a drink and just take it all in. We even made some fancy dining reservations to chill and savor the moment. For us, this included the ultimate fancy resort stop of Grand Floridian. We enjoyed a lovely stroll and stopped at the Enchanted Rose for a relaxing anniversary cocktail.
It was fun to explore new areas of the property that we had never visited before. With no kids in tow or a real agenda, we were able to visit a half dozen other resorts. This gave us an opportunity to dream about that next trip as we enjoyed a beverage at the lounge.
It truly was a magic time celebrating our anniversary at Walt Disney World.
Anniversary #2
So magical in fact, we decided to do it again!
Our second anniversary at Walt Disney World was all about eating and relaxing. We didn’t even step foot inside a park. Not one single theme park. Our entire trip was dedicated to spending time at our resort and Disney Springs. We decided to check out a new resort to us, Coronado Springs. Upon checking in, we found out that we had been upgraded to the Gran Destino Tower. This place is a deluxe-style resort placed within a Disney Moderate.
Yet, there was nothing moderate about the food and beverage options! Whether it was an ADR, quick service, or lounge, Coronado had so much to offer. Throw in a great pool, spectacular lake views, and an amazing walking/running path, and you find yourself transported.
Other options and ideas
While we didn’t bring our kids along for our anniversary trip, the thought crossed our minds. We love our family and experiencing Disney with our kids, so it was definitely on the table. Our room search centered around bigger rooms, villas, or suites where we would have a little more space. And mom and dad could enjoy an adult beverage or some snuggle time in our own space.
