While every Disney Cruise offers its own special magic, the cruises that include an itinerary longer than seven days open the door to special entertainment and dining opportunities for guests of all ages!
This post is all about the extra entertainment on the longer cruises. Plus the extra days to stop and smell the roses! Having time to just relax is something new to me while cruising. There are always so many things to see and do! This special itinerary, the 14-night Panama Canal Cruise, offered the luxury of several “at sea” days that provided many opportunities for extras that you may not experience on a standard itinerary.
The extra time to relax in one of the lounges has the added benefit of getting to know the cast members! Here are our favorite servers in the Promenade Lounge.
The standard evening shows like the Golden Mickey’s and Disney Dreams were perfect as expected and a pleasure to experience.
Here are some of the extra fun options available for evening shows on this special cruise.
Who doesn’t love a great magic act?
Young and old alike enjoyed singing along to the classic Beetles tunes!
Buckets-N-Boards is the perfect family entertainment. I still laugh when thinking about this show.
The special screening of Pete’s Dragon in the Walt Disney Theater was a treat!
Voice Play was just incredible and the comedy will tickle your funny bone! This Acapella group entertained far beyond their vocals with the added touch of comedy that made for one of my favorite evenings during the cruise.
The next to last evening we had the opportunity to get to know more about the crew during the crew talent show. Several of the crew entertained the guests with their unique talents. There was magic, singing, dancing, and even comedy.
Two of my favorite extras were the informative lectures by Captain Puckett and the lectures by the author Ridley Pearson. Captain Puckett was once a Panama Canal Pilot and gave several informative talks on “at sea” days. Offering the history of the Panama Canal right up to the present with the building of the new canal just recently finished.
For those fans of the Kingdom Keeper series the name Ridley Pearson is very familiar. For those who have not yet had the privilege to read any of his books, Mr. Pearson has taken the notion of being in the Magic Kingdom after the park closes and turn it in to a series of thrilling mysteries for the young and the young at heart! His lectures were filled with behind the scenes info about the Disney parks and archive. Fascinating!
Overall I found the longer cruise offers so many extra benefits when it comes to the entertainment I am excited to do many more of these special cruises!
