Disney Cruise Line Stateroom Door Decorating!

We are seasoned cruisers and love the adventure and fun of seeing the world by sea but even after many cruises; I still get turned around when trying to find our stateroom! The stateroom corridors are long hallways along the port (left) and starboard (right) sides of the ship, stretching from the aft (back of the ship) to the bow (front of the ship) with hundreds of doors, all the same size and color! The doors are of course numbered, however; for some reason it takes me a few days to remember which side of the ship my stateroom is on and which way to head once I find the right hallway!Stateroom Hallways

Decorating your stateroom door has become a fun tradition with Disney Cruise Line and a great way to make your stateroom door stand among the sea of doors on the stateroom decks!

The tradition has become so popular, Disney has an official policy regarding decorating your stateroom doors as follows:

Guests are welcome to place magnetic signs on their stateroom doors. Please note that Concierge rooms on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy do not have metal doors.

Guests are prohibited from affixing items to stateroom doors utilizing tape or any adhesive, including removable gel adhesives. We have found that these adhesives damage the finish on the stateroom doors and therefore ask that guests limit door decoration to those of the magnetic variety.

Concurrently, we ask that guests not use over-the-door hanging organizers as they have been found to scratch and/or disfigure stateroom doors and trim. Guests found with damaged doors are assessed a $100 damage fee per incident to cover the cost of repairs.

It is fun to walk the halls and see all of the creative and unique ways guests decorate their stateroom doors, some with just a few simple door magnets, others with elaborate displays that cover the entire door! If you’re already thinking to yourself, ‘that sounds like fun but who has time’! No worries, you can wait until you’re onboard and head to the shopping areas on Deck 4. There you will find really cute door magnets for sale. Alternatively, you can create your very own with a quick trip to the craft store and for a little bit of inspiration – all you have to do is google Disney Cruise Line Doors!
