What is in your Disney Cruise Line Stateroom?

As a Disney specialist travel agent, I often get questions about what will be included in the stateroom.  While the category of stateroom that you choose and the particular ship can make a difference, here are a few extra items or features that you will most likely find in your Disney Cruise Line stateroom:

  • An extra bed. You may not notice the extra bed(s) when you initially walk into your stateroom, but rest assured that it is there! Your room steward will set the beds up in the evenings (if necessary) and put them back up in the mornings. There are a few different types of extra beds and your stateroom may have any combination of the following depending on your room category: Upper pull down berth- this bed type comes down out of the ceiling. Single convertible sofa bed- this bed is converted from the sofa in the sitting area of your room. Wall pull down berth- similar to a murphy bed, what might appear as a cabinet or closet is actually a bed.

  • Split bathrooms (no split bathrooms in Category 11 and 12). While not two complete bathrooms, you have two separate rooms, one with a sink and a toilet and the other with a sink and a tub (yes, a real tub!).

  • Raised beds for storage. No need to try and cram your suitcases into the closets or step around them for your entire cruise. The main bed in the stateroom is raised off of the floor and provides plenty of room to slide your suitcases underneath and out of your way!
  • Wave phones. These can be a life saver when trying to keep track of cabin mates around the ship. Give one to your tween or teenager and set them loose! You can text or call them at any time to find out where they are or to meet up for a fun activity on the ship. Bonus? They work on Castaway Cay too!

  • Mini-refrigerator. This is extremely convenient if you have medication, bottled water, baby formula, or other beverages that you wish to keep cold in your room. It is the smaller, cube size and won’t hold much, but then you really don’t need to store food, so it works perfectly for the intended purpose.

  • Towel animals! I know, these don’t serve any purpose beyond entertainment, but tell that to my kids! The towel animals add a little excitement to coming back to the room.   What animal did the steward leave this time?!?

When you sail with Disney, it’s the little things that can make all of the difference and these are just a few that you may take for granted if you don’t know that it is part of what makes Disney Cruise Line special!  Are you ready to take a Disney Cruise yet?
