Whether you are a first time Disney cruiser or a seasoned Disney cruiser, here are some tips to enjoy The Disney Fantasy! The Disney Fantasy is the 4th ship in the fleet, a ‘Dream Class’ ship and quite possibly my favorite of all! She’s a real beauty! Here are my top tips for the Disney Fantasy!
Ride the Aqua Duck during early dinner!
My first tip for the Disney Fantasy is to ride the Aqua Duck during early dinner! During the early dinner seating the line for the Aqua duck is virtually non-existent! Even if you have early dinner, it may be worth it to skip one night. You can go on the aqua duck again and again with little to no wait. It is super fun! You can grab dinner on the pool deck at Tow Mater’s Grill or order room service after you have worked up an appetite riding the Aqua Duck over and over!
Stay late at Castaway Cay!
My second tip to enjoy the Disney Fantasy is not really for the ship but for Castaway Cay. Most folks get off the ship as soon as the gangway opens and get back on the ship in the afternoon. If you stay on the island later you will have it mostly to yourself. All aboard time is usually between 4:30 – 5:00 PM, so if you stay for the last 2 hours you can ride Pelican Plunge with little to no wait, or enjoy the peace and quiet of the beach!
Stake out lounge chairs one deck above the pool
A common complaint on all cruise lines is “it’s difficult to get a chair near the pool”. This is often true, but on the Disney Fantasy there are a plethora of lounge chairs one deck up! Not only will you find a lounge chair but it will be quieter and more relaxing overall.
Enjoy family pool time at Funnel Puddle!
The main family pool is the at the center hub of deck 11. This is where most families spend there days while at Sea. It’s loads of fun with funnel vision (large TV screen playing movies all day), snacks nearby, the Mickey pool and slide for younger children, it’s where the action is! However if you want a quieter, low key family pool time experience it exists! Located on deck 12 forward is Funnel Puddle! It’s a shallow pool, more like a ‘splash pool with a small fountain in the middle. It’s a great place to bring the little ones and enjoy some sun, pool and relaxation at sea! Funnel Puddle is small, but it’s a great spot to cool off and relax.
Soak up the sea air on deck 4
Is there anything better than being out at sea? Not to me there isn’t! I could sit and gaze out at the ocean for hours! The Disney Fantasy has the perfect spot to do just this! The promenade on deck 4! Deck 4 is shaded and lined with cushioned lounge chairs. Often you will find you have the deck to yourself! The only action on this deck is shuffleboard, but that’s only on one end, wander further down and find serenity!
Play games on the open deck!
Had enough pool time, or skipping the evening show and looking for something to do out in the fresh sea air? Head on up to Goofy’s Sports Deck located on deck 13 aft. Here you will find a mini golf course, ping pong table, Foosball and a huge Basketball court! The whole family can enjoy all of these activities while enjoying spectacular views!
Deck plans at every elevator bank
Even the most experienced cruisers lose their bearings on a ship sometimes. Have no fear, at every elevator bank/ stairwell there is a deck plan. These deck plans will help you figure out which way to go in no time. No one wants to be late for the show, or for their late night ice cream cone!
Room Service Breakfast
While going to the main dining room or buffet for a full breakfast is great for some days, room service is definitely a must do! In your stateroom you will find door hanger menus for continental breakfast. You fill out the card the night before and hang it on your door before 2:00 AM. You can even choose the time you want delivery! Waking up in the morning and having breakfast on your balcony is the best way to start any day. Soak up the gorgeous ocean views while sipping on your coffee and enjoying a danish or fresh fruit!
Pro tip!
If you don’t want a continental breakfast but enjoy coffee first thing when you wake up; order coffee from room service before you go to bed. The coffee comes in a carafe that will stay hot all night long if you don’t open it. Wake up to hot coffee without any interruptions!
Enjoy Palo outside!
Palo is an adult only (18+) specialty restaurant open for dinner and brunch on sea days. Reservations are required. If you would like to dine outside you may request it when you check in at the podium. There are several tables outside on the starboard side of Meridian (the bar next to Palo). This is a great spot to enjoy the delicious food and fantastic service of Palo with the best views from the ship!
Satellite Falls
I wasn’t going to include Satellite Falls in my top tips for the Disney Fantasy, but then something happened that made me think I should! During my recent cruise on the Fantasy I heard someone on the last day say that they just found Satellite Falls and was disappointed because they would have spent a lot of time there. Well, I agree, it’s a fabulous spot to enjoy any day onboard the Fantasy! Satellite Falls is for ages 18+. It’s tucked away on deck 13 forward. Satellite Falls is a round wading pool with a fountain-like feature. It’s so relaxing, and shade can always be found.
Now that you know my top tips for the Disney Fantasy it’s time to plan your cruise! These are just a few of the amazing tips there are for the Disney Fantasy but I’ll let you go figure them out on your own! It’s much more fun than reading a blog!
