There’s nothing more exciting and convenient then staying on Walt Disney World property. Recently, I chose to stay at Disney’s All Star Sports Resort and thoroughly enjoyed the stay. Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort is one of the five Value Resorts at Walt Disney World and one of the three All-Star Resorts located in the Animal Kingdom area of Walt Disney World. Let’s discuss five great reasons for staying at Disney’s All-Star Sports.
5. Lots of Activities
All Star Sports offers a variety of activities for families to enjoy. The resort has two swimming pools, Surfboard Bay Pool and the Grand Slam Pool. Surfboard Bay pool is the largest pool and has a beach feel with large surfboards lining the pool. There is plenty of seating and towels and life jackets are provided. The Grand Slam Pool is shaped like a baseball diamond and is surrounded by giant baseballs and baseball bats; perfect for baseball loving fans. This pool is in a stadium like environment with an outfield, bleachers and Goofy at the mound.
Disney’s All-Star Sports also offers nightly campfire activities, a playground, ping pong tables, fuse ball tables, large outdoor games (Connect 4, checkers and chess), a corn hole area, Movies Under the Stars, a jogging trail, a large arcade and daily activities (including scavenger hunts, arts & crafts and glow parties). So much to do on those resort rest days!
4. Dining
End Zone Food Court is a large food court with many options for breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as lots of grab and go snacks. There is plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. Televisions line the dining area with Disney cartoons and various sporting events. Microwaves and toasters are available for use. The food court opens at 6:30 AM, perfect for those early morning rope droppers and those taking advantage of early entry access to the parks. Mobile Order is also available through the My Disney Experience App.
Just outside of the End Zone Food Court and steps away from the Grand Slam Pool is Grandstand Spirits. Here guests 21 and older can choose from a selection of specialty cocktails, frozen drinks, beer, sangria and wine. Here you can stop and get the perfect night cap after a day at the park as you head back to your room.
Sport Goofy Gifts and Sundries, located next to the lobby area, also has a variety of snacks, staples and drinks.
3. Refurbished Rooms
There are two room types at All Star Sports, the Standard Room and the Preferred Room with the difference being location. Both sleep up to 4 adults and have 1 Queen Bed and 1 Queen Size Table Bed. Some rooms do have 1 King Bed. All rooms at All Star Sports have been refurbished with solid surface flooring (bye, bye carpet) and glass shower doors. There’s plenty of storage options in the room and multiple USB charging ports and outlets.
- The bed is raised so that luggage can be stored underneath.
- A small cabinet with an ice bucket, cups, a single serving coffee maker (with Joffrey’s coffee) and a small refrigerator (no freezer) makes a great pantry area.
- In addition, there is a good-size closet, a dresser and additional shelves for clothing storage.
- There are also hooks in the room for added storage, great for hats and jackets.
The 2 Queen room has a table and two chairs and the King room has a small desk area with two chairs. For parties of more than four, connecting rooms are available but must be requested in advanced.

Then All-Star Sports is a great option. By staying at Disney’s All-Star Sports, you can save some money for Enchanting Extras like a Fireworks Dessert Party, a specialty tour like Savor the Savanna, a Holiday Party or those special souvenirs to remember your magical vacation.
1. Over the Top Theming and Photo Opportunities
Each section of the resort is themed to a different sport with over-the-top statues of various sports equipment. If you have a sport loving fan in your travel party, this is the resort for them. There are several different sections to Disney’s All Star Sports.
- Hoops Hotel which features giant basketballs, whistles and a larger-than-life basketball court.
- Center Court is themed with large tennis balls and rackets along with enormous Spaulding tennis ball cans and a tennis court where Donald Duck and his nephews are a little confused about what sport is being played.
- Surf’s Up is beach with large surfboards and a large shark fin.
- Touchdown surrounds a football field with a mickey head in the center and large football helmets and footballs.
- Homerun Hotel, is the location the Grand Slam Pool, stadium seating and gigantic baseballs and bats.
This resort is great for those Social Media posts; the giant sports equipment and over the top theming make for great backdrops.
Bonus Reasons to Stay at Disney’s All-Star Sports:
Hey Disney is a voice assistant that can make your trip a little more magical and is available in your room. This device works similar to an Amazon Echo device. You simply say, “Hey Disney” and then state a relevant question or request. Hey Disney can provide details on the weather, tell you jokes, provide trivia, play music and allows you to make room requests like “I need more towels”. Just another little magical touch to staying on Disney property.
Character Clicks is an interactive photo experience for guests at Disney’s All-Star Sports. If you did not have time to capture that character photo in the parks, you can use this device to take a character photo with Mickey, Minnie, Donald or Goofy. Pictures are saved in your Disney Photo Pass Gallery in your My Disney Experience and can be downloaded for free. This service does not require the purchase of Memory Maker.
Pressed Penny Collectibles and Collectible Medallions machines are located in the lobby and you can get All-Star Sports Resort specific themed pennies and medallions, the perfect souvenir.
