Napa Rose Restaurant at Disney’s Grand California Resort & Spa is considered the culinary crown of the Disneyland Resort! This restaurant creatively tells the story of California’s rich wine history through the food, décor, atmosphere & of course – the wine!
History of Napa Rose
The restaurant opened in 2002. From the very beginning, Executive Chef Andrew Sutton has cultivated amazing dishes that go hand-in-hand with the impressive California wine list of the restaurant which also pairs nicely with the theme and ambience of this beautiful resort. Since its debut, Napa Rose at Disney’s Grand Californian, has received recognition & awards from multiple esteemed culinary organizations for it’s unique menus, outstanding service and delicious wine pairings.
Signature Dining Experience
We recently dined at Napa Rose at Disney’s Grand Californian Resort & Spa. It is a signature dining experience and well worth the time and expense of booking a dinner reservation. The restaurant is staffed by an amazing cast who take care of every aspect of your meal. The atmosphere is very relaxed and comfortable, fancy without being over the top. The servers are friendly and experienced in the pacing of your multi course meal. Their knowledge of the full menu helps guide you through the selections.
The Vintner’s Table Menu
In addition to an ala carte menu, there is a special four course menu called The Vintner’s Table where you receive a seasonal selection of first, second, entrée and dessert. This special fixed menu can be enhanced with a flight of four wines paired to the selections.
The Vintner’s Table menu is designed to engage your senses with the freshest seasonal ingredients combined with delightful flavors presented with an artistic flair. As an example, our meal consisted of:
- First course of Blue Crab Stuffed Zucchini Blossom with Spring Squash and Fresh Hummus.
- Second course was Forager Spring Mushrooms with Ricotta Dumpling and Spring Pesto.
- Third course was the entrée and here is where Napa Rose added the Disney magic. The menu called for Maple Leaf Duck Breast with Sunflower Root and Cherry Hibiscus Sauce. We were allowed to substitute the Black Angus Filet Mignon for a small charge.
- The Fourth and final course was a dessert of Toasted Angel Food Cake with Raspberry Water Sorbet.
As mentioned above, we chose the wine pairing which complemented every course perfectly.
The Menu, continued
The regular menu is divided into Starters, Seconds, Main Courses and Desserts. Here you will find a wide range of selections to choose from as well as a kid’s section for younger guests. Highlights include the Oak Roasted California Asparagus as a starter, the Herb Potato Gnocchi as a second, the Prime Eye of the Ribeye for the main course and the Wine Country Goat Cheesecake for dessert.
There is not a bad choice in the bunch and you can trust the staff’s recommendations for the food and the drinks.
The best reason to visit Napa Rose at Disney’s Grand Californian is to enjoy a relaxed dinner in the hands of excellent chefs and servers. The presentation of the courses, the explanations of the available selections and the attentiveness of the entire staff makes for an incredibly memorable meal. Our most recent experience was dinner with friends and we had a lovely table with a great view of Disney California Adventure Theme park.
In the past, we’ve also dined as a couple and it was equally enjoyable! Please remember to be a little adventurous when you dine here. Experience some new flavors and you will not be disappointed.
