Disney’s Contemporary Resort is one of Disney’s icon resorts since it is one that the monorail runs through and that is photographed as such quite often. This resort is also one of the deluxe resorts that is right by the Magic Kingdom, which makes it also a great location for many reason.
Situated on Bay Lake you can have a wonderful view of the lake which also is a great place to watch the Electric Water Pageant that goes by most nights. Disney’s Contemporary Resort includes the Tower, which is the main building and the one the monorail passes through as it goes to and from the Magic Kingdom, which is conveniently located just next door making it easy to walk or take the monorail to the park. Less-expensive rooms can be found in the garden wing, but there are great views of Bay Lake in this area as well. On the other side of the Tower is Bay Lake Tower, which houses the Disney Vacation Club villas. These villas can also be booked for a nightly fee.
Disney’s Contemporary Resort also houses a very popular character dining experience, Chef Mickey’s. In addition there is a great quick service option at the Contempo Cafe as well as two table service options. Steakhouse 71 offers options for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the California Grill is the fine dining option for dinner. The California Grill is very popular for the spectacular view and for watching the fireworks from the restaurant or rooftop viewing area.
Along with the great location the Contemporary has plenty of activities to keep you busy including a pool with cabanas you can rent, a fitness center, playground and jogging trail. You can also catch a boat to the Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness for some wonderful dining experiences.
