Every resort at Walt Disney World has its own unique characteristics. With that also comes fun and exciting things each resort offers its guests. The Value-level options in Orlando are no different and Art of Animation has some great offerings. So, here are Five Things to do at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort (AoA)!
Ride the Skyliner
We definitely recommend taking a spin on the Disney Skyliner, the newest resort transportation option at Walt Disney World. You can hop on at the Hourglass Lake station between Art of Animation and Pop Century and fly on over to Caribbean Beach Resort. From there, you have options on where to go next!
You can head over to Disney’s Hollywood Studios or over to the International Gateway at EPCOT, via a quick swing by Disney’s Riviera Resort, where you can hop off and explore as well. Once at EPCOT or Hollywood Studios, you can take a quick stroll over to the Boardwalk entertainment district, including great dining options and multiple Disney resorts.
The Big Blue Pool
Did you know that Art of Animation’s Big Blue Pool is the largest hotel pool at Walt Disney World? This zero-entry pool, inspired by Finding Nemo, contains over 308,527 gallons of water! There is also agreat area for the little ones, Schoolyard Sprayground, located next to the pool. This splashpad features more characters from the Nemo franchise, plus some great age-appropriate water features.
And if getting wet isn’t your thing, there’s the Squirt’s Righteous Reef playground in the pool area. This is a great area for your kids to play and enjoy the day at the resort.
Take a walk around the property
There is so much to see around the Art of Animation property. If Disney statues and icons are your things, AoA is a must-visit! Throughout the themed areas, you’ll find some of your favorite Disney andPixar characters. Whether it’s the Finding Nemo, Lion King, Cars, or Little Mermaid areas of the resort, make sure to bring your smiles and a camera. There are plenty of spots to get a photo and preserve those memories.
There is even a 1.38-mile jogging trail around the exterior of the property if you feel the need for speed!
Cabanas
Located at the Cozy Cone Pool, these traffic cone-shaped cabanas will definitely cause you to slow down and relax. They are available on a first-come-first-served basis and provide some great shade from the Florida sun. This is the smallest of the three pools at AoA, but it’s wonderfully themed.
Surrounding this pool area you’ll even find some of your favorite Cars characters like Doc, Sally, Mater, and Lightning McQueen. Plus, loads of other great imagery and signage from your favorite movies.
And, if you need to do laundry during your stay, it’s located right next to the pool area.
Resort Activities
Movies under the Stars take place every night, weather permitting, at 8:30 PM local time at the Big Blue Pool. Guests can enjoy complimentary movie screenings, including new hits and Disney classics. Check with the resort activities guide for a list of features.
Located by Pride Rock in the Lion King section, guests can enjoy Campfire Activities 7 days a week. Stop over between 6:30 to 7:30 PM for some roasted marshmallows and other family fun!
While we mentioned the Big Blue Pool and the Cozy Cone Pool, we can’t forget the Flippin’ Fins Pool! This pool is located in the Little Mermaid section of the resort. It features Sebastion and the “Under the Sea Orchestra” characters.
Speaking of pools and back to the Big Blue Pool, there are daily activities, pool parties, and other great activities that take place on the pool deck. This includes themed games, trivia, and more. If you need a quick bite of a drink, you aren’t far away from The Drop Off pool bar. Plus, Landscape of Flavors, the resort’s food court, is just a hop, skip, and jump away.
Got a gamer on the trip? Check out the Pixel Play Arcade in the main Animation Hall Building. Guests that want to play have to purchase a Game Card and add points using a credit card or cash at a kiosk inside the arcade. Those Game Cards are rechargeable and can be used at other Walt Disney World Resort arcades.
